Lions' record-breaking swim across channel captured by drone camera
A pair of lion brothers have made the longest swim ever recorded for their species – about 1.5 kilometres across hippo and crocodile-infested waters. The massive swim – equivalent to the aquatic leg of an Olympic triathlon – was the pair's fourth attempt to cross the Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda, and was recorded by a drone-mounted thermal camera at night. The lions had to abort earlier attempts after encountering large animals, most likely hippos or Nile crocodiles, which are also visible in the footage. Making the effort even more extraordinary, one of the lions, named Jacob, has only three legs. Jacob has had an extremely challenging life, says Alexander Braczkowski at Griffith University in Australia: he has been gored by a buffalo, his family was poisoned for the lion body-part trade, he was caught in a poacher's snare and he eventually lost his leg after it was stuck in a poacher's steel trap.

Artificial Intelligence in agriculture only way to strengthen country's economy:
MULTAN, Jun 28 (APP):Agriculture is backbone of country's economy. It accounts for nearly 19% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). With agro-based products, the sector fetches 80% of the country's total export earnings. More than 42 percent of the labour force is directly or indirectly engaged with the agriculture sector. Agriculture sector offers raw materials to major industries including textile, leather, rice processing, edible oil, sugar and some others.

Thermal (Infrared) Drones Explained
Thermal Imaging sensors are commonly referred to terminology such as thermal camera, temperature camera, heat vision camera, infrared camera, thermal imaging sensor, heat signature camera, and even thermal heat vision sensor. In this post we will refer to this type of imaging as infrared or thermal imaging. Infrared energy is generated by the vibration of atoms and molecules. The higher the temperature of an object, the faster its molecules and atoms move. This movement is emitted as infrared radiation which our eyes cannot see but our skin can feel. Thermal imaging is the use of a special infrared camera sensors to illuminate a spectrum of light invisible to the naked eye.

MIT drone camera can move around to get the right angle
Hollywood movies such as'Jurassic World' and'The Wolf of Wall Street' have used aerial track shots provided by drone helicopters with cameras. However, those shots require careful planning to avoid collisions, and separate operators for the drones and cameras. But MIT researchers have developed a camera-equipped, autonomous drone that can maintain a shot's framing - which figures or faces appear where - as people move, all while avoiding collisions. The drone allows, for example, a movie director to specify a shot's framing, and then while flying, it generates control signals for a camera-equipped autonomous drone, which preserve that framing as the actors move The new drone system will be presented at the International Conference on Robotics and Automation later this month. With the new drone system, users can specify how much of the screen a face or figure should occupy, what part of the screen it should occupy and what the camera's orientation towards the subject should be - straight on, profile, over the shoulder or other orientations.

GoPro Budding Rival Lily Folds Despite $34 Million Worth Of Preorders
Lily has regrettably announced its decision to terminate its business amid funding issues. This is sad news to the 60,000 customers who were hoping to receive their camera drones from the company that could have been a competitor to GoPro and other action camera makers. According to VentureBeat, Lily is shutting down after it failed to secure enough funds for the manufacture and shipping of its drone cameras. After careful thought, the company decided to send out emails to its clients on Wednesday, informing them that it is folding its business. Lily received numerous preorders amounting to $34 million after leaving a great impression to consumers during its beta program.
DJI's Zenmuse Z3 is its first drone camera with optical zoom
As with the rest of the Zenmuse line, the camera's main functionality is integrated into the main DJI GO app, allowing you to swipe to to zoom in and out, for example. Previously, if you wanted to zoom in using a drone, you needed to fly it closer. And yes, it can still be used as a live video feed while you're flying. The Z3 uses the same camera sensor as in the Inspire 1 and Phantom 4, meaning it offers the same 12-megapixel still shots and Adobe DNG RAW support. Although it's not the primary purpose, the Zenmuse Z3 can be used for shooting video too -- 30fps at 4k resolution.
Send the kids to drone camp this summer
Mason Halton, 10, put together a drone during Drone Camp on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. INDIANAPOLIS -- Ten-year-old Jade Bacon probably knows more about drones than most people do. She knows what stabilizers and a gimbal do and can point them out. She can tell you to what altitude someone can legally fly a drone (500 feet, if you didn't know), and where you can't fly drones (stay away from prisons and airports). Most of her knowledge about drones came from attending a two-day drone camp in Fishers, Ind., that taught kids about drones, then let them fly.
